The Sam’s Wish to Walk appeal has smashed the £6,000 mark in just over a month.

And it is hoped a fashion show starring Sam Bottomley’s classmates and their parents will add to the total.

This week pupils at Hopton Primary School were strutting their stuff during a rehearsal for the show on February 21.

Sam’s mum Karen Bottomley said: “There’s a real sense of community spirit in Mirfield at the moment, especially in Lower Hopton. It’s quite overwhelming!

“We would, as a family, like to say a huge thank you to all who have donated so far, be it financial or for raffle prizes.

“Special thanks must go to the school mums – the Sam’s Wish to Walk team – and K Anderson for their very kind donation.”

The fashion show featuring clothes from Mirfield shop Missing Label will be held at the school at 7pm.

Tickets are £5 from the Sandwich Shop and Lower Hopton News, both in Calder Road.
