Terry’s lights are just knockout

And by the time the dad of Dewsbury boxing hero Gary Sykes has finished lighting up his home, the result is a knockout.

But then Terry has had lots of practice.

He has been illuminating his house at Moorside Road in Dewsbury Moor for the past 25 years, getting bigger and better each time.

This year’s display includes LED lights, Santa, reindeer and elves all across the front of the house and fence.

“I like doing it because I want something people can see,” said Terry. “It shows them what can be done and I hope it encourages others.”

Terry has recently spent more than £200 on four sets of light he picks up as bargains in sales.

But he doesn’t count the cost: “The whole estate now looks forward to my lights switch-on. The house really stands out and my neighbours love it.”
