Teenager's mobile phone is stolen from his pocket in Birstall

Police are appealing for information after a 15-year-old boy's mobile phone was stolen from his pocket in Birstall.

The boy was walking along Church Road at around 3.30pm yesterday (Monday) when a man demanded his phone. He then put his hand in the boy’s pocket and took the Samsung Galaxy.

The victim was not injured and no threats were made to him, but police want to speak to anyone who might have witnessed the incident.

It’s thought an elderly gentleman, walking a black dog at around the same time, may have seen what happened.

The suspect is described as a white male. He was wearing a red anorak type coat which had a silver zip, fleece tracksuit bottoms and is thought to have short, black hair.
