Teen to perform in Britain's Got Talent semi-final

And Meg Jennings, 19, is preparing to take to the stage with the group again for the semi-finals tomorrow evening.

The performers surprised the audience when they popped up in different parts of the auditorium playing instruments and singing in the first stage of the talent competition.

Music mogul Simon Cowell said it was ‘the easiest yes’ as he and fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams put the group through the audition round.

Miss Jennings, form Batley, said: “We’re a classical orchestra with a rock element because we want to attract a fresh audience. The members range from ages 19 to 60 so it’s a big family.

“We’re still in the process of taking it all in, it’s very surreal.”

The group impressed enough to gain a place in the semi-finals and are now one step closer to featuring in the Royal Variety Performance and winning the £250,000 prize money.

They will perform live tomorrow night in a bid to secure enough public votes to make it through to Saturday’s grand final.

Miss Jennings, who studies at the London College of Music, said: “We got the most incredible response and there’s a little bit of nerves for the next performance but we’re more excited than anything else.”

Miss Jennings is a former member of the Wakefield Youth Music Theatre and says she “wouldn’t be performing now without them”.

The teen joined The Collaborative Orchestra with four of her university housemates in London.

The group’s audition - a performance of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now - currently has six million hits on Youtube.

They are the only orchestra to progress to the BGT semi-finals in 10 years of the show.
