Work to redevelop the site began last November after planners granted permission for the site to be developed in May last year.

The new store will create 20 new part and full-time jobs.

Paul Sellers, Sainsbury’s convenience surveyor, said: “We’re very excited about opening our new store on Oxford Road in Gomersal next week.

“The store has created 20 new full and part-time jobs, delivering a timely boost to the local economy, and will stock a wide range of fantastic convenience goods, including bread, milk and fresh fruit and vegetables.

“We’re keen to play an active role in the Gomersal community.

“We will also select a local charity to benefit from the fundraising and volunteering activities of the store’s colleagues .

“I hope everyone is able to come and see what a great store this is on opening day.”

The pub was demolished in August to make way for the supermarket.
