Faust’s Growth was shot last summer at the college’s Batley School of Art and gave its students a real taste of life on a movie set.

Filmmakers John Eyre and Robin Heep worked with the college to create their re-imagining of the classic play Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe for the Co-operative British Youth Film Academy.

Last month students strutted their stuff in the spotlight of the red carpet for a special screening of the film at the Printworks in Manchester.

Amy Lodge, a performing arts graduate, played the role of the witch in the 85 minute film and attended the premiere.

The 21-year-old said: “I loved it. It was an incredible insight into an actual film set.

“It was amazing to see the film at the cinema, I want to watch it again!”

Singer songwriter Simon Walker, from Dewsbury, had his music used both in the film and during the final credits.

And students from the Kirklees College worked in film production, hair and make-up, fashion, design and catering.

The filmmakers are now applying the finishing touches to the film before considering its distribution and entry into film festivals.
