Staincliffe schoolgirl raises £550 in memory of dad who died in tragic fall

A little girl whose father died in an accident last summer has raised more than £550 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance by holding a fundraising day at her school.

Grace McNulty, a pupil at St Joseph’s Primary School on Healds Road, embarked on the sports-themed fun day with her Year 5 classmates. 
They wrote to local supermarkets and sports clubs who donated raffle prizes and the school kitchen made a special helicopter cake.

Staff from YAA took an assembly explaining what they do in an emergency.

Teacher Emma Coyne said: “The children in Year 5 had a fantastic day and really pulled together to support Grace and her charity work. It was lovely to see children and staff from across the school laughing and having fun together, all for a great cause.

“Grace, with her classmates, worked tirelessly to prepare and organise events to raise money.”
Grace said: “I loved the day and I am definitely going to do it again next year. Thank you so much to all my Year 5 class mates for your help.”

Craig McNulty, of Bronte Close, Staincliffe, died on August 1 last year after fell while helping to prune a tree.

His family opened their Grilled and Filtered cafe in Dewsbury on Christmas Day to fulfil Mr McNulty’s wish to help feed the homeless.
