Stag party park mess

A group of men covered the groom-to-be with eggs, flour and oil in a car park at Wilton Park on Thursday night.

But the car park was left in such a mess that it had to be closed for safety reasons on Friday morning while four members of council staff cleaned it up.

Friends of Wilton Park chairman Gerry Hird said it wasn’t the first time the park had been left in this sort of state.

He said: “According to what we have been told, this is the 20th time this has happened, but it’s never been as bad as this.”

He said a witness had seen a group of Asian men making the mess on Thursday night.

He said: “It’s happening on a regular basis. It’s a stag do – they paste the guy that’s getting married – but they’re leaving the car park in such a state.”

A spokesman for Kirklees Council said: “We have been experiencing a few problems out of hours in the car park and staff have been clearing up as and when necessary.

“There is also a park warden on site to deal with any issues as they arise.”
