Caroline Roberts has wowed fellow slimmers by dropping six dress sizes since January and not recording a single weight gain at their meetings.

The 24-year-old from Hanging Heaton was a size 24 when she went to the club’s first 2011 meeting.

“It was because it was the new year that I started,” she said. “I’d known for a while it was something I needed to do.

“I’d tried myself to eat healthily and it hadn’t worked out, but knowing someone is going to be weighing me is enough to stop me eating too much.

“Another thing that’s helped me stick with it is that I love shopping and being able to buy clothes from any shop is great.”

With the support of friends at Slimming World in Shaw Cross, she has dropped to a size 12.

Caroline, of Bennett Lane, said: “It’s the best thing I’ve done in my life. My only regret is I didn’t do it sooner.

“It gives you so much confidence and I’m so much happier.

“I can just tell every day that I’m a lot healthier.”

Rachael Hardiman, who runs the Shaw Cross club, said Caroline is an inspiration for other members.

“It’s remarkable to lose that amount in a year. Caroline has changed her life,” she said. “There are others who struggle more, but that’s what we are here for – to help each other.”

And Caroline had these words of encouragement for readers planning their New Year’s resolutions.

“I haven’t done anything special,” she said. “Anybody can do it.”
