Readers of any faith or no faith at all are invited to join us at Dewsbury Minster on Wednesday evening.

The historic church will be filled with music as Mirfield Salvation Army Band, Minster organist Stephen Parker and guest vocalist Sarah Armitage lead the congregation in song.

Reporter Series editor Hannah Ridgeway said: “We’re delighted to have the Salvation Army Band and Stephen joining us for the carol service again this year – and to be welcoming Sarah along as guest soloist for the first time.

“Hearing everyone singing along together with the band last year was wonderful and lifted everyone’s spirits on a chilly December evening.

“I’m sure this year’s service will be just as enjoyable and I know we’ll have a warm welcome as always from the team at the Minster.”

The service, led by the Rev Cannon Kevin Partington, will also include brief readings, poems and reflections from three guest speakers.

A retiring collection will be held in aid of the Salvation Army Band and the Reporter Series Fund’s four charities.

Refreshments will be available afterwards in the Minster refectory, with proceeds going towards its community work.

Doors open 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Entry is free.
