The Faab Group will introduce its Faab Social concept – an online platform that allows shoppers to bag a bargain with one click – at this month’s Internet Retailing Expo in Birmingham.

Faab founder Akhtar Kasia said the programme cuts out the checkout element of online shopping by allowing customers to purchase goods and services by clicking on a company’s status across social media.

Facebook statuses, Tweets and other social media output can be used to facilitate one-stop shopping through Faab Social.

He said: “It’s very technologically advanced. At the moment shoppers click on a link on Facebook or Twitter, get referred to a website then go through the site’s checkout process.

“Our solution is to let people buy straight from social media sites, Google and LinkedIn.”

He added that the programme updates a retailer’s inventories and lets them track sales so they don’t sell out of a product offered across the different social media sites.

He said: “It can be used to sell anything and everything, really. Shoes and clothes, office supplies, even fancy dress.

Social media is part of our life now so it’s a natural progression.”

Faab, formed in 1997, is hoping to recruit an apprentice to join the team based in George Street, Batley – or ‘Silicon Batley’ according to Akhtar.
