The medium business category is for firms that have demonstrated outstanding development in performance.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Shire Beds has become one of the most successful bed manufacturers in West Yorkshire. Since it was established in 1977, the business has more than trebled in size and now employs 70 people.

In the last year alone the company has expanded its Dewsbury site from 30,000 square feet to over 100,000 square feet, representing a total investment in 2016 of nearly £2.5million.

Fara Butt, sales and marketing director at Shire Beds, said: “We are proud of our Yorkshire roots and delighted to be a business award finalist.

“We have had a busy 12 months and this accolade is testament to the whole Shire Beds team, who work hard to make the company what it is today.”

TheBusinessDesk.com editor Alex Turner said: “It was a tough judging session with the quality and volume of entries making it difficult to narrow down to a shortlist.

“In every category there were businesses that would have made the shortlist in previous years that have missed out.

“The shortlisted businesses gave compelling reasons to be chosen, demonstrating growth, innovation and a passion for what they do.”

The winners will be announced on Thursday 30 March at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.
