Shaw Cross firm helps Royal Albert Hall jubilee party plan

A WORLD famous venue has called on the expertise of a Dewsbury firm to help it celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The team at Ossett Mouldings this week delivered a batch of 10 specially designed crowns to London’s Royal Albert Hall.

The crowns, inscribed with ‘RAH’, will cap banner poles outside the historic venue.

Ossett Mouldings managing director, John Clayton, said: “Our part is done now but I think they’ll look smashing when they’re up there.”

And it’s not the first time the company’s creations have gone on show in the capital.

It has also designed decorative moulds for lampposts outside Buckingham Palace and along the Mall.

Mr Clayton said: “I was walking around outside Buckingham Palace a year ago and I saw them. I never knew that’s where they were going!”

Founded in Ossett in 1973, the company moved to its current site in Owl Lane, Shaw Cross, more than 20 years ago.

It employs five staff, most of whom have been with the company since leaving school.

“We’re well known in the industry,” Mr Clayton said. “Like a lot of companies in our country, we’re small specialists.

“We specialise in making originals. The moulds can be complex but we like to think we’re good at detailed moulding – and fortunately our clients do too.”

Its team has worked on everything from household interiors and shops in Europe to film sets and Euro Disney.

Mr Clayton said: “It really is varied. We’re very lucky we get such interesting work.”
