Seven injured following three vehicle crash on M62

Seven people were left injured following a three vehicle crash on the M62 last night (Sunday).

Firefighters from Rastrick and Cleckheaton were called to J26 (Chain Bar) at 10.30pm to a collision between a Nissan X-Trail, a Porsche 911 and a Renault Scenic.

It occurred after a Nissan X Trail was in collision with the nearside barrier just after the exit slip road for junction 26. The other cars then collided with the Nissan.

When crews arrived, they found passengers on the side of the road and assisted paramedics with first aid.

The driver of the Reanult Scenic, a 22-year-old male from Barnsley was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Two men aged 33 and 31 in the Scenic received minor injuries.

The driver of the Porsche, a 40-year-old woman fron Nottingham suffered minor injuries and three children in the car, aged six, 10 and 12, also suffered minor injuries and were taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

A 74-year-old man from the Bradford area who was driving the Nissan was uninjured.

Diversions were put in place while emergency services worked at the scene. Crews left at around 12.15am

PC Nigel Fawcett-Jones of Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team, said: “This was a serious incident with multiple vehicles and casualties. We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or seen the manner in which the vehicles were being driven prior to it taking place.”
