Serial thief targets church collection box

Police believe a man has been sneaking into a Mirfield monastery to steal from the collection box.

This CCTV footage of a man they need to speak to in connection with the thefts at the Community of the Resurrection in Stocks Bank Road.

The most recent theft was on Tuesday October 28, just before noon, when a silver chalice was stolen.

The collection box, which is outside the main church, was broken into and cash taken on Wednesday October 15 at 1.50pm.

The thief first struck last Christmas when again cash was taken from the charity box.

The man in the CCTV image is white, aged between 30-50 years, bald and of a large build.

He wore glasses, a flat cap, grey overcoat, dark trousers and blue trainers.
