Security guard robbed at HSBC

A SECURITY guard was robbed as he delivered cash to a HSBC bank yesterday afternoon.

The guard was delivering money to the bank in Market Place, Dewsbury, at around 2.15pm, when a man approached him from behind and made a grab for a bag of money being removed from a cashbox.

The suspect then ran away with the bag, which contained a large amount of cash, before getting into a silver car in Bond Street with two other men and speeding away.

A VW Passat car was later found abandoned in the Meadow Lane area of Dewsbury. It was stolen from the Tudor Croft area of Huddersfield on December 30.

The suspect who stole the money was described as a mixed race or Asian man, 6ft 3in to 6ft 4in tall, well built and dressed in a dark coloured hooded top with a green military style short jacket over the top, dark trousers and shoes.

He was wearing a light coloured baseball cap and was seen in the banking hall shortly before the robbery took place.
