Science day to be held Oakwell

Creating a mini model of Oakwell Hall and looking at a collection of insects are just some of the activities planned by the Elizabethan hall as part of a national festival of science.

National Science and Engineering Week, from March 14-23, is a nationwide celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths.

Oakwell Hall is opening its doors to the public to host a day of exhibitions and demonstrations.

Families can build a model of the historic hall from engineering bricks, try chromatography and make replica fossils.

The event will take on Sunday March 16, from 11am to 4pm.

All the activities cost £2 for children and are free for accompanying adults.
