Birkenshaw Primary pupils whipped up a storm in the kitchen when they baked delicious cakes for a bun sale in aid of the Reporter Series Fund.

They also made donations to the fund when they took part in a non-uniform day.

Their activities raised a whopping £377.50 for our four chosen charities.

On the same day, pupils at the nearby BBG Academy showed their support by holding a non-uniform day.

Donations from pupils who ditched their uniforms totalled a terrific £153.59.

Reporter Series editor Hannah Ridgeway said: “We’re all over the moon that our charity appeal has now topped £1,500 .

“We couldn’t have done without the support of everyone who has taken the time to sponsor staff taking part in challenges or host their own events.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Birkenshaw Primary and BBG on behalf of the team here at the Reporter Series and our charities.

“The schools are the first in North Kirklees to organise their own events for the appeal and they’ve done a brilliant job in raising more than £500 between them in just one day. It really is a great boost.”

The pupils in Birkenshaw are not the only ones showing their support for the appeal.
