Scarecrows in Hunsworth raise a smile

Bill and Ben, Mary Poppins, Willy Wonka and more have been put together and dotted around by entrants keen to come up trumps.

Prizes will be handed out on the village green on August 17 at 2pm, where the winner will receive a £75 voucher for the White Rose Shopping Centre.

Organiser Janice Barlow, who has taken up the post for the first time, said she wanted it to be the biggest and best year yet for the contest.

One of this year’s entries, the retired man, pictured above, even has his own copy of the Spenborough Guardian.

The event has been sponsored by Coubrough and Co estate agents in Cleckheaton.
