GRIEVING MUM Liga Chhettri wants to buy a headstone for her daughter Yasmin who passed away from cancer.

Liga Chhettri has vowed that by when the first anniversary of Yasmin’s death arrives in September, her grave will have a memorial stone in place.

Her daughter was just three-years-old when she lost her seven month battle with neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer affecting children.

Mrs Chhettri, of Selbourne Road, Savile Town, fought back tears as she spoke about losing her youngest child.

She said: “It has been really hard but a headstone is the only thing we can do for her.

“She deserves the best and we want to give it to her.

“It is hard seeing all the parents talking about going somewhere with their children but I am thinking what I can put on my child’s grave.”

Yasmin was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma in February last year.

She underwent chemotherapy treatment and had a stem cell transplant.

Yasmin also had an operation to remove a tumour, but lost her battle with the disease last September.

“She was lovely girl and loved to sing, dance and do anything creative,” Mrs Chhettri said.

“It was really sad to see her really poorly. She stopped doing everything she loved. It just was not her.”

Mrs Chhettri and her husband, Ghaney, are appealing for help to raise money for a personalised headstone.

She said: “The cheapest we have found is around £1,100.

“We have some savings but not enough. We would be really thankful if anyone could help.”
