The £700,000 revamp included a new media cafe, kitchen and flexible meeting space, and has been paid for mainly through grants and fundraising. But the church still needs to raise around £100,000 to make up the shortfall. Church trustee and property manager Christine Sykes said: “We borrowed nearly £250,000 to pay for the build but are waiting to hear about a VAT refund of around £100,000 - however, that still leaves us with a large shortfall which we need to fundraise for. Jumble sales used to be incredibly popular in the past so we hope lots of people come along to support the event.”

The sale takes place tonight, January 31, in the Community Rooms from 6pm. Admission is 20p. Pictured are Rev Alison Crookes and Christine Sykes outside the rooms.
