Royal baby update: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge leave hospital with their baby son

Huge smiles said it all when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge finally emerged from the hospital with their baby son tonight.

The proud new parents gave the world its first glimpse of the little prince just after 7pm.

Prince William told waiting members of the press that his son ‘certainly had a pair of lungs on him’ and joked ‘luckily he has his mother’s looks.’

His wife, who looked visibly moved by the crowds, said the Duke had already stepped-up and changed his first nappy. Both said becoming new parents was ‘something special’ and ‘very emotional’.

But the world will have to wait a little longer to find out what the future King will be called because the royal couple are ‘still working on a name.’

After a brief chat with the press, the new family went back inside St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, where the baby was born at 4.24pm yesterday. He was then placed in a car seat and carried to the car by his doting daddy, who fitted the car seat and made sure it was secure, before driving his little family back to Kensington Palace.
