Robbers’ Spenborough Abattoir robbery plot foiled

A pair of robbers’ plot to steal cash from an abattoir was foiled when a woman challenged them.

Two men entered an office at Spenborough Abattoir, off Headlands Road at around 1.30pm on Friday, September 11.

They walked through reception into a back office and pulled a woman away from her desk on a wheeled chair. They then reached under the desk and took a case containing cash.

Another woman challenged them as they tried to leave the building which resulted in a struggle and she managed to take the case from the suspects.

They then fled empty handed on to Headlands Road towards the A62.

No one was injured in the incident.

The suspects are described as two white males, one was wearing a balaclava aged in their early 20s, of average height and one wore a balaclava, a black baseball cap and a black tracksuit.

The second wore grey tracksuit bottoms.
