Crews from Dewsbury, Morley and Odsal were called to the fire in a communal hallway on the third floor of the property on Brooklyn Road at 11.06am yesterday.
One person was was rescued by firefighters and given oxygen therapy before being handed into the care of paramedics.
Smoke detectors were fitted and working.
