The following cases were heard by Kirklees Magistrates’ Court. Numbers refer to the defendants’ ages and not their addresses.

Bartosz Gortat, (32), of no fixed address, jailed for 14 weeks for stealing Avengers toys from Argos in Dewsbury and failing to comply with requirements of community order.

Natalie Gomersall, (25), of Ellis Court, Textile Street, Dewsbury, £440 fine, £150 costs, £44 victim surcharge and £4.20 compensation for travelling without a valid train ticket.

Fakir Mulla, (34), of Suffolk Avenue, Batley, £220 fine, £150 costs, £30 victim surcharge and £4.20 compensation for travelling without a valid train ticket.

Daniel Porter, (33), of Doncaster Road, Pontefract, jailed for 13 weeks, £115 victim surcharge and disqualified from driving for two years for driving whilst disqualified in Batley, without insurance and whilst on a suspended sentence.

Jamie Chambers, (26), of Charlesworth Square, Cleckheaton, 12-month conditional discharge, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge for attempting to steal toys from Toys R Us in Batley.

Ricky Margach, (31), of Priestley Square, Batley, £100 compensation, £85 costs, £80 fine and £30 victim surcharge for resisting a PC in the execution of duty.

Bradley North, (19), of Turnsteads Mount, Cleckheaton, Community order with 60 hours unpaid work, £85 costs, £85 victim surcharge and disqualified from driving for two years for driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.

Umair Aslam, (21), of Henley Avenue, Dewsbury, Community order with attendance centre requirement and £50 costs for failing to comply with requirements of community order.

Shazia Akhtar, (31), of Ouzelwell Crescent, Dewsbury, 26-week sentence suspended for 12 months, Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for 10 days, 180 hours unpaid work, £200 fine, £115 victim surcharge, £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 12 months for stealing £15 cash, driving a vehicle whilst disqualified and without insurance.

Shahid Razaq, (46), of Heron Close, Dewsbury, £670.24 costs, £125 fine and £30 victim surcharge for breach of road traffic regulations.

Alex Grogan, (20), of Moorcroft Road, Dewsbury, Community order with electronically-monitored curfew for 10 weeks, £130 compensation, £85 costs, £85 victim surcharge and disqualified from driving for two years for taking a vehicle without consent, failing to provide a specimen and driving without insurance.

Richard Richardson, (39), of Ashworth Gardens, Dewsbury, six-month conditional discharge and £15 victim surcharge for two counts of assault by beating and stealing £8 worth of cheese.
