Rams target upset in Toulouse

Dewsbury Rams will target a major upset when they head to France to take on Betfred Championship high fliers Toulouse Olypmique in their final game of the regular season on Saturday.

Toulouse go into the final round of matches lying second in the table but just a point separates them from fifth placed Leigh Centurions.

Toulouse must win to confirm their place in the qualifiers but defeat would open the door for Leigh to grab the final top four slot if they beat Sheffield Eagles on Sunday.

Although a tough prospect heading to France, Dewsbury are buoyed by last Sunday’s 23-20 derby victory over Batley Bulldogs.

Dewsbury’s sixth win of the season was enough to move them five points clear of the bottom two.

A shock win in France for Neil Kelly’s side would also give them hope of earning four home games in the Championship Shield, should Batley lose to joint bottom side Swinton on Sunday and Leigh overcome Sheffield.

Adam Ryder maintained his fine form since joining following his release by Keighley Cougars and he grabbed a second try in Rams colours, early in the second half, which put them on course to register a second derby win of the season following their success at Summer Bash in Blackpool.
