Rain doesn’t dampen parade pride
Around 150 young people from the 1st and 2nd Yorkshire Scouts Group took part in a parade through Thornhill before a service at the parish church.
The parade is held in Dewsbury every four years as each of the areas involved take turns to host.

Hide AdCub master Christine Garner said: “The parade and service went really well, despite periods of rain. It shows there are many young people involved in good things.”
This year’s procession set off from Thornhill Sports and Community Centre and went down Frank Lane to the parish church.
There, a St George’s Day service and renewal of promises was held.
During the service, six long-service medals were handed out and medals of honour were given to Mrs Garner, a former Wolf Cub Commissioner for Great Britain, and Tony Ward, a former national commissioner.
