Pupils kept quiet for sponsored silence
Keeping school children quiet isn’t always the easiest of tasks – but pupils at Diamond Wood Community Academy managed it for a whole afternoon.
Youngsters took part in a sponsored silence, including during lessons, to raise money for Action on Hearing Loss. The school in North Road, Dewsbury, has a significant number of pupils with hearing problems.
School inclusion manager Ann Breheney said: “A big part of our work is educating children on what it’s like for the deaf children in our school.”
A cheque for £141 was presented to Chris Evans from the charity, who also gave an assembly.
