Artwork by from Holy Spirit Catholic School in Heckmondwike and Crossley Fields School in Mirfield will take pride of place in the refurbished children’s A&E department at Dewsbury Hospital.

Staff in the department had invited schools to take part in producing colourful designs that could help alleviate any stress young visitors to the department may face.

Helena Moore, paediatric sister, came up with the idea.

She said: “Hospital can be a daunting place for anyone, let alone children.

“We wanted to give them the opportunity to make the environment, which they may one day need to use, brighter and more welcoming.”
