Pupils from Ravenshall School took part in a static bikeathon to help raise money for new laptops.

They cycled for five minutes each – roughly a mile – to equal the 128 mile ride ICT co-ordinator Gareth Owen will undertake today.

Mr Owen told children about his ride in an assembly and suggested that they help raise cash for the new equipment.

Pupils received sponsorship for their part in the relay.

Mr Owen said he is hoping to raise enough money to buy 10-20 laptops.

“The kids have been absolutely amazing – they’ve been talking about it for days,” he added.
