Pub to be pulled down

A DISUSED pub will be knocked down to make way for shops.

A planning application to demolish the former Savile Hotel was submitted in August and has now been approved by Kirklees Council.

The building had fallen into a state of disrepair and last year was named on a council hitlist of grot spots in need of urgent repair.

A report on the hitlist said there had been a general lack of maintenance and outbuildings had been neglected.

After it has been knocked down, a two storey building containing retail and office space, plus a car park, will be put in its place.
