The Bray family organised a fun day at Hopton Horse Centre in Mirfield in memory of William Blackburn, who died within two hours of a meningitis rash appearing on his skin in December last year.

Amanda’s son Jack, 15, was best friends with William and Jack’s 11-year-old brother Sam came up with the idea of holding an event at the stables they visit.

Amanda, of Netherton, said: “I want to thank Louise and Jane, the owner of the centre, for letting us put on the day.”

She also thanked friend Sharon Hackett and her daughter Abigail for helping to raise funds

Mrs Bray said she wanted to raise the money for Meningitis UK in the hope that a vaccination against the particular strain of meningitis that took William’s life can be developed.
