The new 49-home development on Healey Lane features a mixture of two, three and four bedroom houses on the old TS Harrison’s sports and social club site.

Supported by Kirklees Council and part-funded by a £1.2m government grant, the development will help address the lack of affordable homes and the first 10 should be ready for families to move in to by mid-November.

Yorkshire Housing Development Project Manager Fraser Neasham said: “This new development offers families in North Kirklees much-needed affordable housing. Healey Lane is a popular residential area and the homes are ideal for families.

“The development includes a play area and is in close a local primary school.”

Half of the homes will be available to working people on low incomes, with rent set at 80 per cent of the market rent value.

The remainder will be available for social rent, and offer to people through Kirklees Choose n Move who have a connection to the local area.
