Although she only graduated from Bretton Hall in 2006, Elizabeth Carter has amassed an enviable list of credits on her CV.

Among other roles, she has played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, appeared in the Bill Kenwright production Save The Last Dance For Me , Peter Pan, The Snow Queen, Aladdin, and The Gold Maker’s Son at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Elizabeth is currently playing the role of Laura in Bill Kenwright’s Dreamboats and Miniskirts, the sequel to the sell-out Dreamboats and Petticoats in which she took on the same role.

Set in 1963 the story continues to follow the adventures of three couples and their dreams of stardom in the world of pop music.

The advent of the Beatles and the Merseyside sound is inspirational but will it stir our three couples to follow their dreams into the world of pop?

This hit show is said to have the same wit, charm and songs that audiences have loved - featuring hit after hit from Twist & Shout, Handy Man , Pretty Woman, One Fine Day and many more.

The original production has been a phenomenal success.

Since its premiere in 2009, Dreamboats and Petticoats has played to more than two million people across the UK.

It was inspired by Universal’s multi-million selling album series which now boasts seven double compilation albums and a myriad of one-off special releases.

Although her degree was in musical theatre Elizabeth didn’t actually envisage she would follow a career in this field.

“I originally though I would act in straight plays and appeared in a number of radio dramas.

“I was then cast in a couple of musicals,I was noticed and it became apparent that this was the type of theatre I was best suited for.”

Elizabeth was thrilled to be approached to reprise her role of Laura.

“This is a brand new musical and I felt very flattered when I was approached to take on the role of Laura gain.

“It’s been wonderful watching her character develop.”

Although far too young to have experienced the music of the 60s the first time around,Elizabeth has embraced the songs of the era. “I love Lulu and, in particular Dusty Springfield, I’m lucky in that I get to sing a couple of her songs in the show.”
