The second lockdown comes after the Government decided England will go into new stricter restrictions on November 5 for four weeks and we all need to help ease the pressure on the NHS and save lives.

Recently, Covid-19 infection rates have increased in recent weeks across Kirklees and the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust figures, which covers Dewsbury, show there have been 370 Covid-related deaths confirmed since March.

“Every single person in Kirklees has a part to play.

"The next four weeks are about staying at home as much as you possibly can and reducing your contact with other households to an absolute minimum for the time-being.

“I know how tough this will be, but if we draw on the togetherness and strength we’ve already shown throughout this pandemic, we will get where we need to be.

“We’ll work side-by-side with people in our communities as always to support our most vulnerable through this period, to ensure they are safe and have everything they need.

"We’ll also continue to deliver the vital services that you all rely on every day.

“Our local businesses are the backbone of Kirklees and this pandemic has been devastating for them.

"I will fight to get those impacted by these restrictions the financial support they deserve and need.

“Please stay strong and look out for each other.

"Continue to do everything you can to keep yourself and others safe and we will get through this as we always do in Kirklees – as a team.”
