At a meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee a 280-home scheme earmarked for Owl Lane at Chidswell in Dewsbury was deferred.

The development, which forms part of the council’s Local Plan, is planned for a 20-acre parcel of sloping agricultural land. The developer is Barratt Homes.

Among those who spoke to object against the proposal was Dewsbury MP Mark Eastwood. Commenting after the meeting he said: “A number of objections were raised and the council has decided to defer the decision on the application. The fight to save Chidswell continues.”
