SCORES of drivers were handed fixed penalty fines and vehicles seized in a Dewsbury police crackdown last week.
A week-long Operation Focus also saw three arrests at a ‘metal safety arch’ at the rail station where Border Agency staff joined police to check out 467 travellers - one being an illegal immigrant suspect.
Stationed along Savile Road, officers issued more than 50 fixed penalties and seized eight vehicles.
One of those impounded was a lorry whose driver had no licence.
Other offences included using a mobile phone, no documents, vehicle defects and not wearing seatbelts.
At the rail station, Sgt Mark Burgess said feedback on the safety arch had been ‘positive’.
The operation also tackled anti-social behaviour in parts of Thornhill.
