Police call on bogus salesman’s victims to report crimes

Police want to hear from people who have been duped by a man claiming to be a salesman.

A man has gone to the homes of elderly and vulnerable people, offering to sell them alcohol and tobacco products.

Victims have handed over money and been told that the man would return later in the day with the goods.

But he has not returned and the victims have never received any of the products they have paid for or been given their money back.

A 31-year-old man is currently awaiting trial for offences similar to these, but police believe there are more victims of such crimes out there who have not reported them to officers.

The man awaiting trial is accused of two burglaries and two deceptions which took place in Dewsbury and Heckmondwike.

The first two incidents happened at two homes in Northstead, Ravensthorpe, on February 26 and 27.

A house in St James Street, Heckmondwike, was then targeted on March 5, and one in Goose Hill, Heckmondwike, was struck on March 11.
