Police appeal after woman sexually assaulted in park

The assault took place in Crow Nest Park on May 20

The woman, 19, was sat on a bench near the park museum with her friend on the evening of Wednesday, May 20, when she was approached by two males who tried to speak to her.

The woman asked the them to go away and made to leave but as she did so she was indecently touched by one of the males, who then cycled away.

The Kirklees Safeguarding Unit would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident, which took place between 7.20pm and 7.50pm.

The first man was described as tanned, slim, around 16 years of age and 5’1” tall with short dark brown hair. He was wearing a blue and white top and jogging bottoms and was riding a BMX style bicycle.

The second suspect had paler skin and was 5’0” tall, with ginger hair and stockier build. He was also wearing a white and blue top and riding a BMX style bike.

Neither of the men spoke English.

DC Sally Dale of the Kirklees Adult Safeguarding Unit, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this offence and would like to speak to anyone who knows either of these men or who saw the incident take place.

“Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Kirklees Adult Safeguarding Unit on 101 or to ring the Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
