Aldi, in Branch Road, Batley, submitted the application earlier this month in a bid to build an extension to the front of the building.
Should the plans be approved, the supermarket hopes to begin recruiting new staff in July this year.
An Aldi spokesperson said: “The proposed extension to the Batley store will provide Aldi with an additional 200m2 of merchandising space, allowing for improvements to product displays.
“This extension will create a more customer-friendly environment and a better shopping experience.
“If planning permission is granted, building works will begin in September 2014.
““During the construction of the extension, opening hours will remain the same.”
