Pilot lands in store

Dewsbury Sainsbury’s has chosen the lifesaving service as its charity of the year.

Shoppers had the opportunity to nominate their favourite charity to receive a year’s worth of support from the store in Railway Street. There were stalls and games for children, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance also made an appearance to celebrate the partnership.

Last year, Sainsbury’s supported the B Baggins Foundation for limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, raising £3619.58.

Sainsbury’s Dewsbury store manager Tammy Sanders said: “We’ve had a great response from our customers this year, both through in-store and online votes. We’re delighted to have chosen a charity which touched many of our colleagues’ hearts.

“We will now be working closely with them to ensure they really benefit from being our local charity for the next 12 months”.

Kerry Garner from Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: “We know the success that the local charity partnership has brought to many charities in the local area, so when we received the news, we were thrilled. The air ambulance is an independent charity which must raise £9,990 every day to keep its helicopters in the air and saving lives.
