They’re a chance to look deeper into West Yorkshire’s past as buildings are opened, guided walks led, and new resources made available.
In previous years there would have been more of a focus on historical buildings throwing their door open to the public.
But those leading the events have had to be a little more creative this year.

6. Oakwell Hall and Country Park Birstall, Astounding Inventions Trail
Saturday, September 10/Sunday, September11/Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18. 12noon to 4pm.
Take a self-led trail to find out how Birstall born Joseph Priestley's discovery of Oxygen was so important. This beautiful Grade I Listed Elizabethan manor house, displayed as a family home of the 1690s, offers a rare insight into a post-English Civil War household. See period rooms surprisingly unchanged in over 400 years. Hear the ghost story and discover Charlotte Brontë’s inspiration for her 1849 novel Shirley.
