Drighlington posted a tribute online, which read: "Since we received the tragic news of the loss of one of club's most treasured players and friends, we have painstakingly tried to find the words to describe how we are feeling, not only as a club but as his Drighlington Rugby Family.

"The truth is, there are truly no words to verbalise this unfathomable loss.

"Nothing that can be said can put into account this heartbreak and the rippling effect it will have on us all.

"We would like to take some time as a club and community to begin to comprehend what has happened.

"Our deepest and sincerest condolences are with Jenson's family and friends, now and always."

Hunslet Warriors said "everyone's thoughts and prayers" at the club were with Jenson's family and friends.

Jenson won the Reserve League in 2015 with the Rams under the stewardship of coach Jonathan Schofield.

Jonathan Schofield said: “I was really shocked when I received the news about Jenson.

"Jenson played a big part in the reserve grand final squad and he played a massive part in the final coming off the bench.

“I always said he gave us the lift to lead us to the win.

"Jenson was a leader on the field and also a popular character off the field too.”

An online fundraising page has been set up by York Acorn to raise money for a holiday for Jenson's daughter.

A statement on the page said: "Jenson was a great bloke that was loved by everyone he came across and his loss has touched so many people.

"Jens is in a better place now.

"The world has lost an absolute diamond."
