Retired council gardener Pete Fawcett, of Cleckheaton, confronted the dark-clad duo, fearing an attack by the Daleks, and posted the video on YouTube.

In the video Pete said the man looked very “austere” in the way he was dressed and added: “You look like something out of Doctor Who!”
The ambassador explained what they were doing and Pete said: “So we’re not going to get Jodie Whittaker rushing in to save us from the Daleks?”
The ambassador replied: “You never know. But it would be just as much a shock to me as it would to you.”

“A key part of our efforts to continue to bring our infection rates down in Kirklees is to make sure we’re getting clear messages out to everyone in our communities in a number of different ways, so local people are up to date with what we all need to do to keep each other safe.
“These I-Walker digital screens are just one way we’re doing this and we’re delighted they are getting people talking.
“We’re making progress, our Covid-19 infection rates are falling but are still high and need to come down further.”
