Staff at Cleckheaton’s Tesco store go orange for Prader-Willi Research

Staff at the Tesco store in Cleckheaton turned orange recently to raise awareness for Prader-Willi Research (PWS).

The store’s team supported Norma Mazeika one of their temporary colleagues whose son Alfie has the condition.

The store raised £120 and community champion Melanie Smiles presented the cheque to Norma, her son Alfie, and the charity’s mascot Pee Wee the giraffe.

PWS is a rare genetic disease affecting one out of every 15,000 births. The condition can affect hormones, muscle strength, behaviour, cognition and learning. One symptom of PWS is an insatiable hunger, which can lead to life-limiting childhood obesity.
