More than 250 children from 11 schools attended the 'Two Minutes Batley' Remembrance event held in Batley Memorial Gardens

Remembrance: school pupils read poems for peace in Batley Memorial Garden

More than 250 school children from Batley and Birstall attended a special event called Two Minutes Batley, held in the town's memorial garden this morning (Thursday).

Students read poems about peace, the two minutes' silence was observed and there was the playing of the Last Post.

The event was led by Rev Canon Mark Umpleby, co-chair of North Kirklees Interfaith.

Batley Business Association arranged the event, with the help of North Kirklees Interfaith.
