The annual show, organised by the Upper Hopton Community Association, returned to the picturesque village on Saturday (July 25), and saw plenty of fun activities for families and the huge crowd to enjoy.
Hosted at the Recreation Ground, on Jackroyd Lane, the fête saw performances from Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band and Katie Philpott School of Dance, whilst SMJ Falconry showcased some birds of prey.
Multiple stalls packed onto the field, which recently received ‘Green Flag Award’ recognition thanks to the Upper Hopton Community Association’s hard work, including hook-a-duck, tombola, a shooting gallery, a football game, and a heritage tent, as well as choices for refreshments.
Chair of the voluntary group, Chris Breare, told the Reporter Series: “It was the best ever. We have never had so many people who came as early.
“It was just full-on, all day. We ran out of food at 2pm! It was fabulous and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves
“Everything was a pound, the kids loved the old fashioned things, and there was plenty to do.”
The group would like to thank Mirfield Council, local sponsors and private donors who generously supported the event, as well as to the army of volunteers and helpers.
Proceeds from the event will be used to improve the Village Hall (Croft House) which is run by volunteers.
