Since March this year its volunteers have distributed more than 500 food packages to families in need across Kirklees, particularly in Mirfield and Dewsbury.

The Salvation Army in Mirfield is inviting donations of new toys which will then be given to families who have been identified by Kirklees Council, North Kirklees Women’s Refuge in Dewsbury, and via relationships with local primary schools.

Local volunteer Aidan Grills said: “The people of Mirfield have been incredibly generous during lockdown.

“It has been a real privilege to give out our food packages and the chance to make sure every child in our area can receive a toy at Christmas is an opportunity not to miss.”
