Kind-hearted people raising funds for project in Zimbabwe

A group of kind-hearted people in Mirfield is looking to raise funds for a project in Zimbabwe.

The Community of the Resurrection (CR) is hoping to bring in money to support a schools’ gardening project in the Masvingo diocese via a number of challenging activities.

The Zimbabwe project will create vegetable gardens at four schools, enabling them to grow their own produce.

Fr Antony Grant was the first to take a challenge – he committed to walking 20 miles in 25 days.

Chris Townsend, who is currently a long-term guest at CR, has also tackled the fundraising challenge.

He completed a 200km feat to raise money for the project and other students are embarking on various challenges over the next few weeks.

A spokesman said: “Brethren, students and friends of CR will be undertaking various sponsored challenges to raise money for this project.”
