Mikey Brown and his friend Danny Kirkpatrick completed a 47km (29 mile) ultra marathon for the charity which is supporting Mikey’s wife Beth, who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Beth, 29, was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago and is having treatment on the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at St James’s Hospital in Leeds.

Mikey and Danny completed the gruelling run around Dewsbury Ramblers Association Centenary Way, and so far have raised £540. They were motivated to take on the challenge after seeing the impact of coronavirus on Teenage Cancer Trust’s fundraising.

The charity needs to raise an extra £6 million to continue delivering its vital services.

Mikey said: “I chose to take on this challenge as an opportunity to give something back to a charity that has done so much for us as a family over the last seven years.

“Without the support we have received and the home comforts available on the Teenage Cancer Trust ward at St James our time spent at hospital would have been very different.”
